Privacy Policy
Last updated October 26, 2026
This website is the author site of Marshall Riggan. It is a simple reading site: there are no accounts, sign-up forms, comments, newsletters, shops or advertising. This policy explains the small amount of information that is handled when you visit, and what happens if you write to Marshall.
The short version
- No cookies are set, and there are no analytics, tracking pixels or advertising scripts.
- Fonts and images are served from this site itself, not from Google or other third parties.
- The web host keeps routine technical logs to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- If you email Marshall, he uses your address and message only to reply to you.
- Your information is never sold, rented or shared for advertising.
Information collected automatically
The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. Like every web host, Vercel’s servers receive basic technical information each time a page is requested: your IP address, the type of browser and device, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. This is used only to deliver pages, diagnose problems and protect the site from abuse, and it is kept for a limited period under Vercel’s privacy policy. This site does not use that information to identify you or build a profile of you.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. It does not use Google Analytics or any other analytics service, social media “like” buttons, embedded videos or tracking pixels. Because nothing is tracked, there is no cookie banner and nothing to opt out of.
Do Not Track. This site does not track visitors over time or across other websites, so it treats every visit the same way whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.
If you send an email
The Contact page lists an email address. If you write, Marshall receives your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you choose to put in your message. He uses it only to read and reply to your message, and keeps it only as long as the correspondence needs. The email service is provided by Google (Gmail), which processes messages under Google’s privacy policy. Please don’t send sensitive information such as financial or health details by email.
Links to other websites
The site links to booksellers (Amazon and Barnes & Noble), to Marshall’s Facebook and Instagram pages, and to the websites of the artist and the site designer. These are ordinary links: those companies learn nothing about you from this site unless you click through, and once you do, their own privacy policies apply. Buying a book through a retailer is a transaction between you and that retailer.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. If a parent or guardian believes a child has sent personal information by email, contact Marshall and it will be deleted.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, or the privacy laws of California and other US states), you may have the right to ask what personal information is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to its use, and to receive a copy of it. In practice, the only personal information this site holds is email you have sent. To make a request, email the address below; you will get a response within 30 days, and you will not be treated differently for asking. If you are in the EU or UK, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
For visitors covered by the GDPR: the person responsible for your information is Marshall Riggan. Server logs are processed on the basis of the legitimate interest in running a secure website, and emails on the basis of the legitimate interest in answering them. The site is hosted in the United States.
Marshall Riggan does not sell or share personal information, as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act.
Security
The site is served only over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and has no database or login that could be breached. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but no personal information is collected through the site itself.
Changes to this policy
If the site changes in a way that affects your privacy (for example, adding a newsletter sign-up), this page will be updated before the change goes live, and the date at the top will change.
