  • “From the first human footfalls on Earth, the telling of stories has been a means of interpreting the world around us, of expressing what we believe and fear and what we dream. Stories pass our values through the generations and establish useful truths that we can live by. Often stories offer an escape to magical worlds, give wings to our imagination, or inspire us to live richer or bolder or more humane lives. From Beowulf to Breaking News, from the ancient cave paintings at Lascaux to the graffiti on a railroad boxcar, stories are a validation of life. They say: “I was here. We were here. We walked the Earth. This is where we dwell in time.”
